New South Wales RFS Open Day

Saturday 20 September, 2008 - 23:01 by Web Master in Default

I managed to get around to a few Brigades today to see what they were doing for open day.......Um I forgot my camera, so had to grab a few pics on the phone!

Soldiers Point were having a good one with plenty of handouts, demonstrations and a lucky dip for the little ones. They also have one of the latest model Cat 1's for perusal!

Anna Bay was having a quieter day as they have very recently moved into a brand new Fire Station, I guess being rather distant from the old one this may have reduced numbers as the new location is not so well known. Nether the less they got into the spirit of the day and had their doors open (also a chance to organise the new station and get some housekeeping done!)

Williamtown/Salt Ash moved their Open Day away from the Station this year to attend Salt Ash Public School's 125th anniversary. The Brigade thought that in a small community it was best not to conflict with the School's interests but to join them in a great community celebration!

I believe from what I saw that this was successful -

In all a successful Open day for these Brigades. Sorry for the poor quality of the pic's!!

Old Fashioned Flag Pole Raising

Salt Ash Brigade today had itself an old fashioned flag pole raisin!! The Brigade erected its new flag pole, designed and constructed by the Brigade with materials supplied at cost by Hunter Metal Mart, Heatherbrae - many many thanks.

Looks great!! This was followed by the planting of some coastal lavender around the lawn which in time will form a lovely hedge - thanks to Michael of the Brigade for supplying the plants at cost Smile
